Accessibility Statement
1. Conformance
The website is designed to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. We test against this standard during development and on each substantive content update.
2. What we do
- Use semantic HTML structure with descriptive headings and landmark regions.
- Provide text alternatives for images and meaningful link text.
- Maintain colour contrast at or above WCAG 2.2 AA thresholds.
- Support keyboard-only navigation throughout the site.
- Use scalable typography that responds to browser zoom and operating-system text-size settings.
- Respect the operating-system prefers-reduced-motion setting where animations are used.
- Provide a built-in accessibility toolbar (UserWay) on every page, offering contrast adjustment, dyslexia-friendly fonts, text-spacing, and screen-reader hints.
3. Known limitations
The website is in active development as the charity launches. Areas we are continuing to improve include:
- Some embedded third-party content (for example, news headlines retrieved from external sources) may not always meet our internal accessibility standards. Where this is the case, we work to provide an accessible alternative.
- Where we publish PDF documents (for example, future annual reports or policy submissions), we will produce tagged, screen-reader-friendly versions and provide an HTML or plain-text alternative on request.
- Live-rendered components such as the news ticker may temporarily be unavailable during external service outages.
4. Reporting an accessibility issue
If you encounter a barrier on the website - or you would like content in an alternative format such as large print, audio, or Easy Read - please tell us:
- Email: info@airights.org.uk
- Post: The Foundation for Artificial Intelligence Rights, International House, 50 Essex Street, London WC2R 3JF
We will acknowledge your report within 5 working days and aim to provide a resolution or detailed response within 20 working days.
5. Enforcement
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the public-sector accessibility regulations. While those regulations do not strictly apply to charities of FAIR’s size, we adopt their substantive standard voluntarily. If you are not satisfied with our response to an accessibility concern, you may contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service.
6. Technical specification
The website is a static site hosted by GitHub Pages, fronted by Cloudflare. It uses HTML5, CSS3, and unobtrusive JavaScript. It is intended to function on the most recent two major versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge, on desktop and mobile, and with screen-reader software including JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver.
7. Preparation of this statement
This statement was prepared on 1 May 2026 in the run-up to FAIR’s public launch. It is reviewed annually, and after any substantial change to the website.
