Modern Slavery Statement
1. About FAIR
The Foundation for Artificial Intelligence Rights (“FAIR”) is a UK organisation (registration pending). Our charitable purpose is to advance enforceable rights, transparency, and accountability in the development, deployment, and governance of artificial intelligence.
2. Our position
FAIR has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking in any form, including forced labour, debt bondage, child labour, and human trafficking. We do not knowingly engage with any organisation that practises, condones, or profits from such conduct.
3. Our structure and supply chain
FAIR currently has no employees and operates through a small number of contracted service providers, principally in the areas of:
- Web hosting and infrastructure (GitHub Pages, Cloudflare);
- Email and productivity (Microsoft 365);
- Communications and contact-form processing (Formspree, Google reCAPTCHA);
- Accessibility services (UserWay);
- Domain registration (GoDaddy);
- Professional services as required (legal, accountancy, design, printing).
Each of these is an established commercial provider operating under the laws of the United Kingdom, the European Union, or the United States. We assess each on its public commitments to ethical sourcing and labour standards before engaging it.
4. Our approach
- We prefer suppliers that publish their own modern-slavery statement (where they meet the threshold) or equivalent ethical-sourcing policy.
- Volunteer involvement (including trustee service) is conducted in line with NCVO good-practice guidance, and is genuinely voluntary in nature.
- Trustees acknowledge this statement on appointment and confirm their personal conduct accords with it.
- Where FAIR commissions printed publications or events, we ask suppliers to confirm in writing that their work and the work of their sub-contractors is free from modern slavery.
5. Reporting concerns
If you have any reason to suspect that modern slavery or human trafficking is occurring in connection with FAIR or with any of our suppliers, please contact us in confidence at info@airights.org.uk. We will follow our Complaints Procedure and, where appropriate, escalate the matter to the Modern Slavery Helpline (08000 121 700) or to the police.
6. Approval and review
This statement is approved by the Founder, Scott McCulloch, on behalf of FAIR pending the appointment of the Board of Trustees. It will be reviewed and re-approved annually by the Board once constituted, and earlier if the structure of FAIR or its supply chain changes materially.
