Our use of artificial intelligence.
The Foundation examines how public bodies deploy artificial intelligence. We therefore hold ourselves to the same standard, and set out plainly where we use it and the safeguards that apply.
The principles we hold ourselves to
- Human accountability. A named person is responsible for what we publish. Artificial intelligence supports that work; it does not replace the judgement or the responsibility.
- Verifiable sourcing. Each entry in the register carries at least one public source; where a source link has expired we keep the citation, so readers can still trace it.
- Transparency. We tell you, on this page and in the footer of every page, where and how we use artificial intelligence.
- No automated decisions about people. We do not use artificial intelligence to make or materially influence any decision about an individual.
- Data minimisation. We collect the least information necessary, and our analytics are privacy-friendly, without cookies or cross-site tracking.
- Correction. When we are wrong, we correct or remove the material promptly and say so.
Where we use artificial intelligence
AI Watch
AI Watch is refreshed each day by an automated process that scans published United Kingdom public-sector sources for new artificial intelligence contracts, partnerships, memoranda of understanding and pilots. A large language model, used together with search tools, helps to identify candidate entries and to draft a concise summary of each one.
Artificial intelligence proposes; sources and people decide. Only material drawn from verified sources is added, including Contracts Finder, GOV.UK, Hansard, parliamentary written answers, departmental releases, and established United Kingdom public-interest reporting. Each entry must carry at least one public source, and the register records the existence of an agreement, not a judgement of its merits.

Artificial intelligence assisted in drafting and building this website. Every page was reviewed by a person before publication, and the same review applies to any later change. This mirrors the disclosure shown in the footer of every page.
Where we do not use it
- We do not use artificial intelligence to make decisions about individuals.
- Reports submitted through Report your experience are read and handled by people, not by an automated system.
- We do not use artificial intelligence to profile visitors or to track you across other websites.
Accuracy, limits and correction
Automated systems can make mistakes, and so can we. That is why every entry in the register is sourced, so that readers are never asked to take our word for it. If you believe that something we have published is inaccurate, miscategorised, or out of scope, please tell us and we will correct or remove it.
